Yoga is getting popular

The number of yoga studios in Evenia has doubled in 10 years. A lot of women are exhausted and are in need of relaxation.

Why yoga?

“If you can breathe, you can do yoga,'' says Lucia Miller. Lucia is a yoga instructor who has had a studio for 20 years, teaching daily classes to women. She explains that there are many benefits for people of all ages. Yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep. It is a response to stress. So are other sports like fitness and running, but with yoga you are still more inward and engaged in your own breathing.

The numbers in Evenia are crazy! Nearly seven in 10 women do yoga every week. Some on their own at home, others in a studio under supervision. Eden currently has about 60 studios. There will only be more to come.  

Of course, the numbers can also be explained. There is more and more work to be done, so women are working a lot of extra hours. The body could then use a moment of rest and relaxation. So, an increasing number of people are seeking a stable life of reflection. 

Yoga in nature

With your nose in the air, hair in the wind and feet in the grass, yoga becomes an even more intense experience. After all, you can roll out a mat anywhere! When you decide to do yoga outdoors, you are actually going back to the essence of why yoga was conceived in the first place. The origins of yoga (and meditation) were inspired by nature. Research shows that nature helps you recover, improves the immune system and increases your sense of happiness.

Whether the popularity of yoga will only continue to grow remains to be seen.
