Eden in the Architecture Atlas

This edition of the Architecture Atlas will headline Eden and its extraordinary take on architecture. The magazine wrote tons of articles on the buildings that decorate our beautiful streets. They especially focused on our sustainable way of constructing.

Eco-friendly skyline

Our minister of infrastructure Lorelai Ridley welcomed the editors of the Architecture Atlas in our capital this past July. She showed them around town and explained how we built up our skyline in an eco-friendly way. This goes back to the old days. The coast of Eden is surrounded by mountains in which our ancestors used to carve out their homes. So, instead of taking commodities from the mountains and build far away, they decided to build within the mountain. This way they harmed as little nature as possible. This laid the groundwork for our current mentality towards infrastructure.

Commodities are key

A lot of people don’t realise that the construction of buildings is enormously polluting. Therefore, we in Evenia have developed a lot of techniques to reduce waste. For example, we make sure all our commodities don’t have to travel far. By this we mean that we use local commodities, so they don’t have to be transported all around the world by trucks, trains, airplanes, ... We also see to it that we use commodities that are long lasting because we plan on our buildings staying put for a long time. We also use our very own Evenian recycled steel and reclaimed wood.

Don't forget to water the walls

Not only our construction is sustainable. We make sure the buildings are water efficient and have alternative energy providers such as solar panels. The students at the University of Architecture in Eden also learn to be creative with the outside of the buildings. For example, the exteriors are filled with plants to keep our streets green. The plants make sure both the health of our buildings and the health of the occupants is optimised.
