“Men Matter” protests in Eden turned into riots
In response to the upcoming elections for a new Matriarch and government, the men of Evenia have taken to the streets to protest against the male suppression in Evenia. But what started as a peaceful protest escalated into violent attacks in the capital.
What happend?
Yesterday there was another “Men’s March” in Eden. Hundreds of Evenian men came together to march for their rights. Sadly, the protests soon became attacks on the government. Extremists saw this as an opportunity to create riots between the protesters and the police.

During the riots the extremists set cars on fire, attacked multiple police officers, and broke into the national bank while accusing them of being corrupt. Because of these attacks the message of the “Men’s March” was lost. The organisers of the protests stated they did not intend for it to get out of hand.
Is history repeating itself?
These protests go way back and were the cause of “The Big Civil War of 1835” when the men of Evenia protested against the matriarchy. The civil war also started with protests that quickly escalated in very violent actions. The war ended when the current Matriarch resigned and decided not to be passed down by bloodlines anymore. Until today our Matriarch and government get democratically elected.
What now?
The cause of the riots lies with the upcoming elections. Mid-season numbers from yesterday morning, revealing that it looks like current Matriarch Akira Campbell carries the vote by 65%. Her vision for Evenia is very women-minded. She played a huge part in the development of “solo pregnancy”, making men irrelevant in reproduction. Lots of Evenian men are now worried they will become irrelevant in society.
The prime minister responded to the protests as follows: “Our country is 25% male so of course they also need to be represented in the government, but violence is not the way to achieve your goals.”
